The face rotated closer towards them in the smoke and they crowded backwards, watching it in horror. Never had the two girls ever seen anything like this. Tess herself had never even seen a fully formed spirit that had the details of this thing. Most of the time spirits were little more to her than disturbances in the air or slight wisps of mist charged with energy. Tess felt a distinct emotion coming from the face and it was not a friendly one. She shook the boot that contained her taser and pulled the key into her hand, ready to go. If that thing came any closer it was going to get a good jolt of electricity right down it’s throat.
Ch. 2 Excerpt: A whisper near her ear made Tess straighten up sharply. “Sara!! Did you hear something?” Turning first one way and then the other, she put the picture down. A hot, flushed feeling began in her stomach, rushing up to her face and the smell of aquanet was real now in her senses. Her nose flared, eyes dilating as she realized what she was smelling. “Mom?!?” Eyes wide, she looked around her room quickly, searching for anything that would help her figure out what was happening...
